Some crazy and wonderful developments:
-Soundly sleeping through the night for the last 4-5 weeks. Bedtime around 7 pm and waking up around 6 am.
-About a week ago she started sitting really well on her own. She'd been doing well up to that point of sitting assisted (in a bumbo seat or with a pillow behind her) but now she will contentedly sit on a blanket surrounded by toys and play for a good stretch of time. (Cautious mommy still makes sure there's good padding under her for inevitable tumbles.)
-As of the last few days she's happily eating 2 to 3 "meals" a day in addition to her 5 breastfeeding sessions. (Each "meal" is an ounce or two of baby oatmeal, or homemade fruit or veggie purée.)
-A few days ago I decided to purée some leftover ground turkey to freeze (with sweet potatoes, which she already loves), fully anticipating she'd balk at the taste and wouldn't want protein for another month or so. When it was finished (with some oregano and garlic powder added in for good measure), I gave her a tiny taste to confirm my prediction. I was WRONG. She LOVED it and snarfed up about 2 full ounces. I just love that my girl is developing such a balanced and healthy palate!
-Along the same lines, given her love of hummus, I've been adding in some spices to her defrosted purées at each meal. As Mimi put it, she's definitely a spice girl! Every food is more happily consumed if it has a dash of cinnamon/garlic/oregano/etc.
-Yesterday was a big day - she started using her pointer finger (or rather is figuring out her pincher grasp with the other fingers - we call it #1!) And...she waved! I have 2 witnesses and it happened multiple times. So crazy!
-About a week ago she started giving kisses (they usually involve a tongue sticking out). It's so precious and sweet. Today she actually gave kisses to her doll.
-And I realized a few days ago she knows her name and will look when you call her.
Baby girl is growing so fast and I am so lucky to get the opportunity to love her.
