Our sweet Penny-moosh celebrated her golden birthday last weekend - 8 on the 8th! She has been such a trooper since E has arrived - it's definitely not her personality to be a true "kid" dog, but she knows that E is important, and takes her role as protector very seriously. While I don't think they'll ever truly play and we'll never have those precious dog-baby moments you see in videos, our sweet girl has more than risen to the occasion as big sister. (Case in point, this impromptu birthday morning photo shoot: I was trying so hard to get Penny to sit next to Ellie, and she took it as me wanting to play. She did a quick spin move right into Ellie, promptly knocking her over, at which point E started wailing. The lady walking into the park with her kids must have thought I was torturing both my children. Mom of the Year material right there.)Amazingly in the last few weeks, Penny's been getting a bit braver - getting closer to E while we all snuggle, and actually interacting with her (until E gets excited and flails her arms, at which point Penny bolts).
