In our new class (she's moved up a level as of a few weeks ago), we end with a superman to her teacher, who then flips her to her back float as she comes up for air (goal here being if she ever fell in a pool, she would go under and try to immediately back float). We're working towards an assisted back float for 10 full seconds, which is super tough for a toddler who doesn't want to sit still, especially when their ears are in the water and they can't really see what's going on around them.
When her teacher flipped her over to her back float today, she started counting slowly to 10. Around 4 I realized she had let go, and Ellie was FLOATING ALL BY HERSELF! Three whole seconds of independent floating!
This may not seem like too big of a deal, but this is a huge building block of water safety, and I was so proud I almost started crying!
I love that Bug has taken to the water so well, and am unbelievably proud of the progress she's making!
